Living by yourself is one of the hardest things to do. Why? Because you have to put up with yourself.

“Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all”

“I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I’ll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be”

Do vs. Talk

There are people who talk and there are people who take action. Enough said.

“Somebody that I Used to Know”

3 Feb

Gotye is an Australian singer songwriter that has hit it big in the US with his hit “Somebody that I Used to Know.” This song should be up there with Adele’s “Someone Like You.” The original is amazing and caught me by surprise when I was listening to it on the radio. The song is such a heart breaker and is a highly melodic song with a reggae beat blended with xylophones and an unexpected female voice about 3/4 into the song. The last part of the song has AMAZING harmony. However, I also like Ingrid Michelson’s version only because the arrangement reminds of early Julieta Venegas.

PS 22 Choir

3 Feb

Kids, their innocence, talent, and a teacher that believes in them. PS 22 Choir is an inner city youth choir from New York City. They have the “Menudo rule” meaning that once the choir members get to a certain age, they must leave the group so the choir always stays at a very young age. The group now travels all over the US and even opened up the Oscars a few months ago.

The first time I heard this choir was when they re-did the version of Marina and the Diamonds “I am not a Robot” however I really like their version of Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory.” They use a 4 part choir to give the group a great feel.
